A love letter to the country's own grape. Old bush vines on a dirt road outside Malmesbury give tiny berries with huge character: mulberry, smoked paprika and a whisper of banana bread over sweet braai smoke.

Pinotage was born in 1925 when Professor Perold crossed Pinot Noir with Cinsaut — then lost the seedlings in his garden for two years.
